At WeLoc, we have more than 40 years of experience in the design, manufacture and sale of plastic closures for flexible packaging - today there are over 50 models to choose from. We are fully focused on our customers and help you find the right clip for your specific needs, whether you require a standard solution or a customised product.
All WeLoc closures are manufactured under certified conditions in Sweden.
Weloc PA 70 was originally developed for liquid-tight sealing of a medical test product.
Our history
In 1947, the family-owned company Weland AB was founded by the couple Kajsa & Weland Andersson and Weland’s brother-in-law Johannes Johansson. The first products manufactured were wing nuts, but over time the business developed into today’s grating, spiral staircases, and later laser cutting and other steel constructions.
When Weland’s son, Åke Welandson, was diagnosed with cancer, he decided together with his brother Gösta Welandson and doctor Ingemar Näslund to help improve the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Together, they began exploring new product ideas, which led to the idea of the WeLoc clip. They saw the need for a liquid-tight seal for the plastic bags used for cancer diagnostics at that time. The result was the original bag clip Clip-it (today’s WeLoc Professional PA 70).
This became the start of Weland Medical AB in 1983, where doctor Ingemar Näslund became a co-owner. Arne Henningsson, a workshop engineer at the parent company, was employed to drive product development and sales forward. The Welandson brothers expanded their business by, among other things, purchasing the tool company Makeni (today Weland Plastic AB). The first tool was developed and Weland Plastic produced the first patented clips.
For 40 years, Arne Henningsson put his heart and soul into launching, developing, and marketing WeLoc. The range of sizes increased and its popularity grew worldwide. Today, WeLoc closures are available in several models and over 50 sizes, and the clips are still manufactured by Weland Plastic AB under certified conditions.
Arne Henningsson retired in 2021 after 52 years within the Weland Group, handing over the baton to his daughter Katarina Hjalmarsson, who has worked in the company since 1994.

Development, design and production
One of our strengths is that we design, develop, and manufacture plastic closures ourselves to meet your needs. We have a clip for most requirements, and if we don’t, we’ll design a new one! All WeLoc bag closures are of Swedish origin and are manufactured under certified conditions by our sister company, Weland Plastic AB, at our Weland-owned facilities in Smålandsstenar, Sweden. Both companies are regarded as a single entity. With more than 40 years of experience and close cooperation with the production unit, we deliver closure solutions of the highest quality. We have full control throughout the entire process, which enables quick decisions and adjustments when needed.
