Choosing the right closure
There is a wide variety of different applications where a reusable closure can make everyday life easier, whether you are at work or at home. Which clip you choose depends on your needs and requirements for tightness, usage temperature, detectability, strength, etc. Whether you want to prevent spills or protect the contents from external influences, we have a sealing solution for you. Perhaps you need a clamp to fix, separate, or hold something in place – only your imagination sets the limits!
Depending on the material a package is made of and its size, there is a clamp for every need – from small thin laminate bags to large sacks and industrial FIBCs. Different designs for different needs!
The difference between the models
Professional PA
This model series is our original series. Here is the first clip, which was patented in the 80s and developed for liquid-tight sealing for medical purposes. PA clips are made of polyamide PA6.6 and have a very tight seal, where two ridges fit into a V-groove, as shown in the image and according to the patent.
This sealing solution provides a unique tightness and a strong seal compared to other clips on the market that are made of polypropylene. Therefore, PA clips have a higher price than these.
WeLoc Professional PA is available in sealing lengths from 50 to 320 mm. The four smallest sizes have a hinged joint, while the three largest sizes have a rotating hinge. Depending on the packaging laminate used, the right clip can provide a very tight seal, in some cases both air and liquid-tight.
Standard PP
This model series is made of polypropylene and has approximately the same quality and function as most other clips on the market. The PP material provides a more flexible and forgiving property and can handle the sealing of thicker materials, where our Professional PA might be too tight and difficult to close. WeLoc Standard PP is perfect in situations where simple and easy sealing is required at a lower price, and where the demands for tightness are not critical. It is ideal for household and lighter industrial applications.
WeLoc Gripper
The Gripper is our most robust sealer within the WeLoc series and is specifically designed for tough applications and large packaging in the manufacturing industry. They are made of polyamide (PA 6.6) reinforced with glass fibre, which provides them with extra durability and strength as well as a long lifespan. The WeLoc Gripper easily seals open bags and BigBags in production and can be reused over and over again. Additionally, it features a swivel lock button that provides extra security when needed.
Detectable POM
This product group is made from a special material that makes the items detectable in both metal detectors and via X-ray. The closures are of high quality, but should they unexpectedly break, even smaller parts can be traced. The material withstands use in ultra-cold environments, down to -50 °C.
WeLoc Detectable closures are suitable for producers of food, beverages, and pharmaceuticals, who need to minimise the risk of contamination of raw materials in production. The traceability increases product safety and helps to avoid damage to production equipment, costly product recalls, and damaged reputation. The closures are consistently dark blue in colour, which is standard for detectable products. WeLoc Detectable can be integrated into HACCP processes (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point), a legal requirement for food operators within the EU.
The detectable models are available in four sizes, from bags to bulk bags.
How long of a clamp do I need?
Other bag clips on the market are often named based on their total length. However, our clips are named based on the active sealing length. This length may differ slightly from the clip's total length. As shown in the image below, the difference between the sealing length and the total length is illustrated. When choosing a clip for your application, it is important to consider the length you need for sealing. If the opening can also be folded, you might manage with a shorter bag clip. Our range consists of over 50 different models of clips. Our product names are structured as follows (while competitors specify total length): Model/Material/Sealing Length in mm.
